Brer Bear was less than friendly; a few unnecessary comments were sent my way. The principal quickly jumped to my defense, and even went as far as to call me one of the sweetest, caring, and genuine hearts the Laughing Place has ever seen. He said he admires how hard I work, considering education isn't even something I wish to pursue as a career. This is where I started tearing up a bit, and I told him I really appreciated his words. (When several unsavory characters are ganging up on you, it's great to hear the person in charge tell you you're doing fine.)
Brer Bear went on to say that giving my possum back to me just wasn't going to happen. Again, no clear answers as to why. The principle again felt this was not fair, and offered me a different position working with several possums at once instead of one on one. This was the position I had last year, and I was elated. I told him he'd taken the weight of the world off my shoulders and I appreciated it very much. I talked it over with Mama Rabbit for a few minutes before coming back and telling him I would definitely like that position.
Brer Bear trudged back to report the news to Brer Fox, who is now quite stressed that he must wrangle TWO rabbits to take my place now. Another Laughing Place inhabitant told me this was a small price for them to pay for what they'd put me through. I don't necessarily believe in "an eye for an eye", but I was glad to have more support from others.
On my way out, the inhabitants of the Laughing Place all wished me a good night's sleep tonight.
Thank you principle, for being the only person who was professional in this whole mess. And thank jeebuz it's over.
Now I can focus on what's important: getting ready for Disney's decision! I'm so happy that I can do so now while feeling great at the same time!!
